Is it a good choice to install windows 2000?

i have a P3 800 mhz,256 MB SDR RAM,Radeon 7000 series with 64 MB (AGP x2) and the computer just lags and stops working even when i start a movie.The operating system that its working on its Windows Milenium.I would want to reinstall its windows but i would want to install windows 2000.Is this windows a good choice so like for programs and stuff like that? or if i want a good windows then i should choose from windows 98 and XP?
